GAME CAMERA is a feature-length horror film in the “found footage” style of “The Blair Witch Project.” Completely produced in Spokane, Washington with all-local talents, it tells the harrowing tale of four hunters who, deep in the wilderness, find evidence that at least two mutant creatures are on the loose, stalking hunters. While three of them are eager to return to the safety of home and forget about their nightmares, one of them insists they “gear up” and hunt the deadly monsters down.
GAME CAMERA began as a short film produced in 2012 for the Demon Chaser Challenge competition, held in Salt Lake City. That short film, just over seven minutes long, won the best acting accolades at the event in October, 2012. However, it was apparent to the filmmakers right away that the story was worthy of more development. Too many holes were left in the compelling narrative that could only be filled with more screen time to develop the characters and situations fully.
Over the summer of 2013, after a longer screenplay had been developed, the same team regrouped and returned to the forest to make their dream come true. Shooting in isolated areas in the blazing summer was not an easy task, but it was an effort to which all the participants were fiercely committed. The result is a gripping 70 minute thriller, not quite like anything you’ve seen before. The filmmakers are proud of what they have achieved and are eager to share it with the public.
GAME CAMERA features the acting talents of many familiar Spokane faces. It stars Brad Picard, Ron Ford, Tom Steeber, Steve Kane, Jason A. Young, Jonathan Hudson, Evan Achten, Travis Picard, Evan Clements and radio personality Molly Allen. Acclaimed actor Patrick Treadway provides voice work, as does actor Chris Leblanc. It was written and directed by Ron Ford, veteran of over a dozen horror films, including the 1994 hit, THE FEAR and the cult classic HOLLYWOOD MORTUARY. It was shot and edited by Tom Steeber. Special effects make-up was provided by Mitch Tiner and Amy Calkins. John Carl Toth composed the music.
GAME CAMERA will premiere at the Magic Lantern Theatre, 25 W. Main Avenue, Spokane, on October 29, 2013 at 7 pm. The event is open to the public. Most of those involved in the production will also be in attendance. GAME CAMERA is seeking distribution. For more information, contact Ron Ford at [email protected].
